Tango2Paris hosts the official Paris Preliminary for the TangoToIstanbul World Cup. Winners will qualify directly for the Quarter Finals in Istanbul and receive travel support and free entry as detailed below.

Competition Categories

1. Tango de Pista (Salon)

   • Judged on musicality, embrace, elegance, navigation, and connection.

   • Improvised social tango danced to traditional music.

   • Couples must maintain a close embrace throughout the performance.

2. Tango Escenario (Stage)

   • Judged on choreography, interpretation, technique, and artistic expression.

   • Couples may include lifts, poses, and open figures within musical interpretation.

3. Milonga

   • Judged on rhythm, connection, and musical playfulness.

   • Improvised dancing to traditional milonga music.

4. Vals

   • Judged on fluidity, rotation, and musical phrasing.

   • Improvised dancing to tango vals music.

5. Social Salon Category

   • Focuses on authentic social tango style and floorcraft.

   • Open to all social dancers (non-professional emphasis).

6. Solo Milonguero Category

   • Individual competition focusing on musicality, elegance, and personal style.

General Rules

• All participants must register in advance and agree to these rules.

• Couples may register for more than one category.

• Proper respect and sportsmanship are required at all times.

• The jury will consist of professional tango teachers and judges appointed by Tango2Paris and TangoToIstanbul.

• The decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal.

• By entering, participants grant Tango2Paris permission to use event photos and videos for promotional purposes.

🥇 First Prizes

• Salon & Escenario: €500 towards flight to Istanbul +
  Direct entry to Quarter Finals (QF) + Free entry to the T2I World Cup.

• Milonga & Vals: Direct entry to QF + Free entry in respective category.

• Social Salon: Direct entry to QF (Social Salon Category).

• Solo Milonguero: Direct entry to QF (Solo Milonguero Category).

🥈 Second Prizes

• Salon & Escenario: €200 towards flight to Istanbul.
